Amazon in the Fashion Industry

Amazon in the Fashion Industry

Last year, we were all quarantined for a long time, and with it, many industries are still fighting to survive. The fact of staying home all day has harmfully hit the fashion industry because all we need is the internet, food, water, hygiene stuff, streaming services, and that is it.Departmental stores were closed for a couple of months, and nobody appeared to care because there were no more parties or nights out, so nobody would want to buy a new dress or a new pair of luxurious shoes.

Since we feel unsafe while going outside, our shopping needs are mainly satisfied via e-commerce, and online shopping has always been a good option. Amazon continues at the top because of its continual service improvements, great prices, and incredible shopping experience. Three years ago, Amazon acquired a machine-learning company named Body Labs, which works by focusing on body shape analysis by developing customized avatars that calculate clothing sizes from videos and images. A couple of days ago, the technology company just launched Made for You. This startup enables users to buy completely custom-sized t-shirts for only $25. The entire buying process must be through the app, where the user will be required to upload two pictures and submit collar, sleeve, length, and fit preferences to customize the t-shirt.

Buying clothes through a sizing system could be disturbing because even when we always pick the same size, clothes dimensions change across different brands. In contrast, if you are looking for a tailor-made one, let me tell you that it will be expensive and kind of troublesome to find in the middle of this catastrophic pandemic season.

Now, for $25 and a couple of pics, you can get your own desired t-shirt that fits you. This service is only available for the United States, but it is supposed to expand soon. If this idea goes further, Amazon will be shortly hitting the fashion industry.
