Pay-Tv is in the past because of Streaming Services

The demand for online streaming services has grown considerably because of urbanization and easy access to the internet. The streaming service market has been expanding faster since the pandemic appeared because everybody is supposed to stay quarantined at home.

Over-the-top video subscriptions in the US

As we all expected, the most used service across the US is the iconic Netflix supporting 195 million subscribers. In 2nd place, we have Amazon Prime Video with 150million subscribers. Both expect to be sharing the top position in just five more years.

The 3rd place is for HULU, followed by Disney+ in 4th place. Disney’s original goal was to reach from 60 to 90million accounts by 2024, and by far, they are accomplishing their goal.

The high demand for video and music streaming services are great for both the tech and economy, but it is necessary to recognize the risk that this represents. We encourage the users to stay alert on their information security because if their account information is shared, they will be immediately at risk of account fraud, sharing, and takeover, enabled by password sharing and identity theft.

What is going on with pay-tv services?

According to a recent study, pay-tv services have been declining across the US from 85% to 74% in just five years. Many people prefer streaming services instead of watching live TV, and under this idea, they just cut pay-tv services. Instead of cutting TV, around 60% of American households have chosen to combine both pay-tv and streaming. Most of the pay-tv customers are up to 55 years, so it is expected that streaming companies will continue to lead the market in a couple of years.
