The Mexican company Roomie IT joining the fight

“Roomie IT Services” a 100% Mexican company, was the first company developing, producing, and selling artificial intelligence robots in Mexico. As a contribution, to the COVID pandemic, which continues to struggle the entire world, this company has adapted its pre-existing domestic robot called “Roomie Bot” into an assistance tool to the medical sector in order to detect infected patients.

Mexican entrepreneurs created Roomie Bot 3 years ago. The base language is Spanish, thinking on the Latin market. This AI device is a robot for the home, and more than being a virtual assistant, this robot can identify the faces of people with whom he lives and control the electrical devices in the house. Roomie Bot has been prepared to include more features in order to help during coronavirus pandemic. This AI robot has been developed to be the first point of contact with potentially infected patients and includes many functions that will be very useful while detecting the virus. The most important features are that the machine moves by itself which will identify and interact with patients and spaces by its camera, take patients’ temperature through an infrared thermometer, and the detection shortness of breath through a sensor.

According to Aldo Luevano, the Roomie Bot creator, and his team, assumed that when they first heard about the COVID pandemic, they collaborated with medical experts to adapt their pre-existing AI robot with the main objective of protecting medical workers and patients and avoid the virus spread. Directives of the firm affirmed that a new version of their robot is already done to work in hospitals and medical centers. Many hospitals attempt to test the robot as soon as possible to continue the fight against coronavirus. This autonomous robot will be helping by analyzing the patient and their symptoms in order to detect the virus, and by using this tool, we avoid the spread of coronavirus among the medical personal.

During this pandemic issue, hospitals and health care centers are very crowded. In order to complete basic tasks, AI robots would be prepared to record medical history, take temperature and heartbeat, etc. The machines will be helping nurses and doctors to focus on offer medical diagnoses or more complicated tasks that could not be complete by a robot. Some robots are developed with special features that give the capacity to provide medical diagnose, but we do not really trust at all in machines.
