Let's Rethink E-Waste

Let's Rethink E-Waste

As electronics have become a worldwide phenomenon, the e-waste problem is now a never-ending situation. While smartphones, computers, and tablets play a significant role in our routines, they don’t last forever.

We are constantly upgrading our devices whenever it’s needed. Reducing, reusing, and recycling our non-functional equipment and its components can reduce the environmental impact caused by discarded electronics.

Some equipment stands very obsolete to be repaired or to reuse its parts on a new device, but there may always be something we can do. At this point, we must rethink what to do with all those old IT assets to avoid pollution.

E-waste has dangerous consequences because of its high levels of hazardous or toxic materials that could never end up in landfills. At this point, we are searching for a secure and proper route to all that waste.

What Can I Do with E-Waste?

  1. I’ve seen several sculptures made from waste, and it’s a great idea to transform those obsolete IT assets into an artistic masterpiece.
  2. Years ago, teenagers used to make curtains from old CDs, which means that we can also create new decorations from e-waste. With that being said, even I’m thinking about restoring a vintage computer and placing it in my home's studio or living room as part of the decoration.
  3. If you have children at home, it would be a great idea to let them dismantle, assemble, or even clean old PCs. Experimenting and playing with electronic equipment is an excellent opportunity for the little ones to learn more about the tech world.
