Always Forgetting Your Password?

Always Forgetting Your Password?

Do you still use your pet’s name as your universal password? It is annoying to forget your passwords, and to avoid this we use common passwords, or we create a customized password and use it for many services and sites.

Hackers can easily predict passwords if they are from the most used. Your accounts can be hacked if you use the same password across multiple sites. Many people use common passwords, which are predictable and insecure. It is totally important to use a strong password because a lack of strong passwords can be a valuable tool for cyberattacks, and the problem with this is that cybercriminals can use or spy over our information.

Here is the list with the most common passwords, so if you are currently using one of these, we recommend having them changed

  • Cookie, Cake, Ginger (or another food name)
  • Password, Test
  • 12345, 1111 (or another consecutive Serie of numbers)
  • Princess, Love, Flower
  • Samantha, Ashley, Tiffany (or using your name)
  • Football, Soccer, Baseball (sports are too common)

But do not worry if you are from those who always have troubles while remembering passwords, you must use a password manager. They store all your information in the same place, enabling you to use complex passwords. Passwords managers must be super secure because if they are hacked, all your information and passwords will be showed directly to attackers and that would place you in a dangerous position. Sometimes passwords reside in your computer’s memory in a text format. By decrypt the password manager database, hackers would easily take your information. You can avoid this. You should not leave a password manager running in the background, even in a locked state. You make it harder for the hackers because they would require either physical access or remote access into the victim’s machine.

If you use a password manager app on your smartphone you will be better protected, also you can attach an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator. In conclusion, we recommend you do not stop using your password manager, just ensure you are using the right tools like two-factor authentication to bring extra protection to your information.
