Chargers and Wires Can be Recycled

Chargers and Wires Can be Recycled

Smartphones, computers, and headphones are essential in our daily lives, especially while working or studying from home. Headphones had been in the tech world for a long time, but the latest Bluetooth and noise-canceling technology changed up the whole game.

In the past, it was typical to see people walking down the street with a long cord running from their pocket to their ears. Why? Smartphones and iPods came together with its charger and a pair of that same wired version of headphones.

Thanks to the wireless technology, you will never need those old wires and long cords again. It is time to let wired headphones go, but please be careful because they are composed of plastics and metals that can pollute our planet.

What to do with my old gear? If you have several wires lying around, you can try to sell them per pound but don't expect to make a lot of money from them. Recycling companies will not pay you more than $3 per pound, but at least you can try to make those old chargers or headphones work with your current devices.

As we've outlined, wires contain plastic, metals, and a wide range of toxic materials that can damage the environment. Those worthy components can be melted down, mined, or dismantled to extract rare earth materials and reduce the overconsumption of natural resources.

There are several eco-friendly alternatives to get rid of your unwanted gear, but the disposition or recycling protocol may change according to each device. Feel free to give us a call to learn more about our e-waste recycling services.
