How Often Should You Change Your Passwords?

While there is no optimal metric for how often you should change your passwords, businesses and websites may ask you to verify your identity or update your access codes at least every six months. This situation annoys me tremendously because I barely remember what I ate last night, but I'm also aware that using a weak password can be very dangerous.
