Over the last few years, online shopping has become an essential part of our lives since stores often have a wide range of different products and discounts online. Thanks to human overconsumption, now we have millions of plastics, paper, and cardboard packages piled up on doorsteps since more and more people prefer to buy their stuff on Amazon and eBay. Waste and pollution have also increased during the pandemic, but reducing consumption and recycling our packaging will automatically reduce our carbon footprint. The world around us is at constant risk because of the overconsumption of natural resources, climate change effects, and pollution.
Globally, around 690 million people go to bed on an empty stomach every other night, and the worst part remains on those 25,000 humans dying from hunger every day. Neither animals, humans, nor plants could live without water, and we are so lucky to be alive in the middle of this coronavirus pandemic since we still have food on our table and a house to rest.
Our society throws away 50 million tons of e-waste each year. This amount seems questionable, but unfortunately, it is a reality that has been destroying our planet over the last decade. It is also required to consider the impact caused by the tech industry because most electronic devices contain many toxic materials such as metals, plastics, or chemical substances. It would be impossible to stop manufacturing computers, but at least we can try to minimize the impact caused by those tons of e-waste.
Over the last years, we have seen many groups promoting sustainable practices, and it is great to see how people take all those environmental issues seriously, but what about big names in the industry? The role of those big tech companies is more significant because of their high production rates. Since pollution problems are increasing, many companies have been placing their efforts on reducing the environmental impact caused by manufacturing processes.
