You've likely heard of ChatGPT, an AI assistant that follows instructions from a prompt and provides detailed responses. There are many similarities between ChatGPT and Siri, Apple's voice-activated virtual assistant.
Apple has been using AI technology for years, helping its users organize photos on iPhones, detect car accidents with Apple Watches, and enable Siri to understand and respond to commands. Imagine the potential if Siri and ChatGPT merged to deliver an even better service.
“Apple Intelligence will transform what users can do with our products — and what our products can do for our users,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
A couple of days ago, at Apple's annual Worldwide Developer Conference, they announced a partnership with OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT. This new feature is expected to be integrated later this year into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia.
Although Apple has traditionally maintained a closed ecosystem focused on its devices and user privacy, it now recognizes that AI is too significant to overlook. After all, Apple's move into AI demonstrates the tech industry's increasing focus on this transformative technology.
