Batteries power up our computers, electric vehicles, cellphones, and many other devices that are part of our routines. Electric car popularity has been growing fast, and this is great, but it is also essential to stay alert on the tons of batteries that once powered those cars and end up in landfills. Those old batteries mean more than tons of e-waste and pollution because they also leak up toxic gases such as carbon dioxide that could be very dangerous to human health.
As we already said, batteries are found in several devices; it would be impossible to skip the use of lithium batteries, but recycling our old lithium batteries whenever they stop working could make the difference.
Benefits of recycling batteries
- Costs will decrease.
- Minimize the use of raw materials.
- Reduce the impact caused by mining and manufacturing activities.
- New batteries will be cheaper.
Even when old batteries do not have any reselling value, they contain toxic metals that could damage the environment. Many companies had started promoting the recycling of Li-ion batteries since they found a visible difference between production and recycling.
GreenTek is also concerned about electronics’ recycling, so we want to encourage all of you to recycle used batteries. In this blog, we promote green practices, so we will later be talking about those devices that contain lithium batteries, so you can also contribute to the battery recycling journey.
