Leaked Information, This Time from Nintendo

Leaked Information, This Time from Nintendo

We all have played with Nintendo’s consoles no matter how old we are. We all have played the Nintendo 64, Nintendo DS, Game Cube, Wii or their latest release the Nintendo Switch. The rise of Nintendo's success has at times seemed unstoppable, over the past 30 years to the present day it has been a loved game for many users.

In the past weeks, users of the internet had noticed about the supposal huge leak which was revealing all the details about the already launched Wii gaming console. According to users, a document filled with Nintendo’s gaming systems internal information has appeared on 4chan. The documents leaked on the internet also contains technical “Verilog” files for every component in the Wii, including the CPU. What is the problem with these files?  Verilog is a hardware description language used to describe circuits via code. This would make us able to comprehend how pieces of the Wii were made. We must check out for more Nintendo’s news during the following days because on 4chan, many users have been publishing rumors that the leaked files are just a part of a big archive which includes more internal information about the company and their products. This information may be published in the coming days or weeks.

When this issue became something viral on the internet; one of the members of the Wii hacking group, called “Team Twiizers” has looked over the leaked information, and found it to be “complete nonsense” because the files do not have the actual source code to reproduce the gaming console. He also mentioned that files contain just a little part of the system software, diagrams, and engineering, but all of this was already known.

Last year, Zammis Clark was found guilty and sentenced to 15 months in jail because he infiltrated Nintendo’s internal network. This fact opens the big possibility that he had shared documents he stole from Nintendo with other users on the internet.

Nintendo has not yet responded to the stolen information issue, but what is true is that the company would not lose much money from this because the Wii and the affected gaming consoles launched over a decade ago. The stolen information could be used for the creation of Nintendo’s clones, but this will be illegal.
