The experience of living in a digitalized world attempts to be friendly with the environment by avoiding waste of materials that will be ending in the landfill. Let us focus on printers. Years ago, having your own printer was something necessary. If you were a student or worker, you always needed to print worksheets that will be scanned later. Now, we just download and edit the document in our computers and resend it. This leaves us with the question if we still need printers or they will slowly die out?
The internet has also affected the printing industry at some point. This also brought many benefits to the users, like receiving information for free and faster. The internet came in and helped the environment causing less paper to be printed. Nowadays big companies store and distribute information in a digitalized way. Most companies have all information stored in a cloud avoiding the risk of this information being accessed by an exterior party. It is way easier to send files via email than having to print them out. Other companies not using the cloud opt since the storage in a cloud would be generating an additional cost.
Many in the industry are still fond of the paper-reading experience. The paper will always have utility in this world. Fortunately, printers nowadays are faster, thinner, and cheaper than they were years ago.
There is no right or wrong answer to the question that we made, but at least we have many key points to ensure that printing industry will be in our lives for many more decades. Maybe now they are as necessary as they were years ago when we were students, but they are an important helping tool that we must use for several tasks.
