The COBIT is a guide of the best practices presented as a framework, aimed at the control and supervision of IT.
It's a series of resources that can serve as reference model for IT management, in which they include control objectives, security guidelines, audit maps, management techniques and tools for implementation, maturity models, critical success factors. measures of performance and results, among other resources.

The mission of COBIT is to "research, develop, publish and promote a set of control objectives generally accepted for IT that are updated, and international for the day-to-day use of business managers and auditors."

As well as the managers, auditors and users benefit from the COBIT since it helps them to understand the information systems within the company and helps them to decide the level of security and control necessary to protect the assets of their companies through the development of a IT administration plan.

The fourth edition of COBIT has 34 processes that cover 210 control objectives classified into 4 domains:

  4. Monitor and Evaluate

COBIT 5, launched on April 10, 2012, in its latest edition, accepted worldwide, provides the business vision of the IT Government, whose protagonists are technology and information, in the creation of value for companies.
This edition is based on COBIT 4.1, but integrates other important frameworks and standards such as "VAL IT" and "Risk IT", "ITIL" and ISO standards related to the IT standard.
