Facebook is a great place to post your favorite pictures, share funny memes and look for interesting data, but now this company is about to start a new chapter into the metaverse.
It is no longer Facebook, but you can call it Meta. Wait, what? Last week, the social network founded by Mark Zuckerberg just renamed itself "Meta" as part of its new plan to build technology to connect the world as we know it with the metaverse. All this information sounds so creepy, but it makes sense because we are all closely linked to technology at the point, we almost have a virtual lifestyle.
We all have multiple enigmas about this new metaverse strategy, but today we will start with two basic questions:
- The first question: What is a metaverse? Metaverse is a speculative future iteration of the space where digital avatars can interact, work, and even go to school. Well, the metaverse is basically a new combination of the real and digital world.
- Another obvious question: What will Facebook’s version of a metaverse look like? In this combination of the physical and virtual world, the users will be able to interact with friends and family through their respective digital avatars (just like memojis on your iPhone). The metaverse does not exist yet, but it will take a couple of years to materialize.
Weird but true!! While for years, Facebook has been one of the most popular and visited websites, now Marc Zuckerberg is betting his company's future on the metaverse.
