Disney's New Impressive and Creepy Robot

Disney's New Impressive and Creepy Robot

Over the last years, robots have become very popular among industrial companies. Many robots and other types of AI were designed and crafted in this pandemic time. Not only robots, but tech in general, is used in almost every single company around the globe.

What about Disney? No matter how old you are, we are all impressed by its technology, innovation, and imagination. Disney is distinguished by being an innovative company, always looking for something original that catches our attention. If you have already visited one of its parks, you have experienced its high-tech improvements such as animatronics on the attractions, projections on walls, digital bracelets, etc. According to Disney Imagineering, one of their main goals is to create the illusion of life, and this task involves developing more lifelike robots, which are used in movies, theme parks, etc.

Disney had been working with animatronics for many years, but they are always performing every single detail under the purpose of making them look more realistic. Their latest development is a skinless robot that can copy real human movements such as blinking, subtly nodding, and little movements that are related to breathing (because while breathing, we unconsciously produce minimal movements). The robot’s eyes are very similar to biological eyes, skipping the fact that they cannot focus directly on you because it appears to look through you. On its chest, it has a sensor that alerts it when someone is in front of it, so the robot will move its face and eyes to maintain eye contact with the person. Now, this interactive robot character is skin-less, but I trust they will cover the robot skull with Disney costumes and will be used in its theme parks.
